Default Strange issue with passenger side window

Yesterday I hit the down buttons for both windows to let out the Texas heat after work, and the passenger side does not go down. WTH, I try the passenger side door button, still no go. Mess with trying to get it to go down several times, nothing.

I'm hoping at this point that its a fuse, but figuring in my head that a fuse for the elect window would affect both, and dreading a motor replacment.

Get in this morning, hit the down on the window for the hell of it, and it works.......Try it several times, works like a charm.

Anyone experience this, or have some insight? The only things I can think of is: Intermittant connection, or the motor locked up due to heat?

I had this same problem with one of my trucks, turned out the wiring harness on the bottom of the switch had worked loose, pushed it all the way back on, problem fixed!

I'm going through the same thing on my '04 (same side too). One day it works, then several months later it doesn't. I finally took into the dealership. I'll let you know what they figured out after speaking with their tech.

Respectfully,

J.

I posted this awhile back. Everytime my car sits out in the heat ( Houston ) the window will stop. I can do the slam and hold the button procedure with success sometimes or I have to get inside the door and wack the window motor ( more often ). I have also had the same thing you described about it working the next day after sitting in the garage overnight seldom ). I do not think it is a connection because when I wack the motor it starts working again. I have tried to wiggle and pull / push on wires before but that would not work. Maybe the heat is causing the brushes in the motor to move away from the contact point they make ( forgot the name ). If someone has an old motor I will pay for shipping and try to take it apart to see what the problem is. That is how the " Dimming Display " problem was fixed , someone just took it apart and figured it out.

Thanks, not that I'm glad someone else is having the problem, but I was beginning to question whether I had the issue or dreamed it. Let me know what you find out.

RPH, I'm with you, I think its the motor. I wonder if these motors are subject to the old heat soak starter issue I used to have in me C3's? Maybe the expansion causes a lockup.

I think sometimes the motor just gets weak due to brushes being dirty, etc. We replaced the window regulator assembly on a friend's C5 because the cable got gnarled up in the spool and would not go down. Then the passenger side window quit working. We took the motor off the driver's side assembly that we removed, and put it on the regulator assembly on the passenger's side. The window started working. When we tested the motor from the passenger side, it would turn with no load on it, but it just did not seem to have the torque that the other motor had and it turned slower.

Just got my car back from Carmax. Passenger side window would not roll down, just made a clicking sound. Everything else worked though. Turned out to be the passenger side window motor. They replaced it under warranty (less 50 dollar ded) or it would have cost about 500 bucks

Woodstoc,

I got bad news and good news. The bad news is that they couldn't find anything wrong with what I described to them. The good news is they went ahead and replaced the relay. I'm sorry I couldn't be of much help, but I hope that you will get the problem resolved. Thank you and God bless!!

Respectfully,

J.

My passenger window died in my 04 after 39k miles. I replaced the motor/regulator myself for @ $230 from Fred Beans. It took about 3 hours including 30 minutes for a test drive to make sure I had the window alighned correctly.
