I recently purchased my second c5. This one came with the key-fob, that the seller said didn't work after he replaced the battery. I figured it just needed to be re-programed. I replaced the battery. I did my search and got instructions for programming. First I did the hold both unlock and lock buttons with key in ignition, I also used the method where you follow the instructions on the DIC. Both worked, but only for a day. The next morning the fob doesn't do anything unless I relearn it again. Possible I got a bad battery or is this a sign of a bad key-fob?
Thanks in advance for any help?
Talk about deja vu. The exact thing happened to me last night. I put in a new battery and did the whole resynching thing and it worked great. This morning I get up to leave and it wasn't working. I am so glad that this post was here. I am going to try my spare fob and see if it works. Thanks for the information.
Take the fobs completely apart and clean all of the contacts, including the battery with a cotton cloth. While you're in there, bend the battery contacts out a little bit so they'll make a more firm connection with the battery.
I did this with both of my fobs that had the exact same symptoms. They both work like new now....
Hope this fixes it for ya.
GreenHornet1 -- Thanks so much -- it worked!! I had given up, and checked back to this post one more time, saw your post, tried it and it worked. Thanks for taking the time to help out!
Use the rubber eraser on the end of a pencil to clean the contacts......be sure to clean out the rubber particles when finished. This is how we cleaned electrical contacts back in the 1950's and it still works.
