It was about 100F and track is at 3200 ft. Had 8 runs with a best of 13.2 at 109. My last run was 13.4 at 106mph. My car is a 03Z with a Blackwing. My temp was about 220f. It seemed everyone was running slower than normal. There was two 06Z's running low 12's. at about 122. Those cars both had tunes.
A stock Z06 LS6 will produce best power when the coolant temp is 190-194.
All other things being equal, you'll produce better ETs and traps if you manage your temp to be in that range when you stage the car. Usually that means cooling the car between passes as best you can at that ambient air temp.
Running at 220 vice 190-194 typically will cost two tenths on an otherwise well-driven pass.
Ranger, what's the best method to get at that temp?
Running the fans at all times like you showed me?
Yes, tricking the fans on should keep the coolant temp at 194 or below. That's worth doing at the drag strip where times are calculated to three digits of precision.
Not worth doing on the street, where movement of ambient air at road speed will tend to drop the coolant temp to the optimal range anyway.
I want to get to the track again before the temp hits 100 here. Remember also if you are running the a/c in the staging lanes you arent dripping water on those tires.
I had the sticking clutch on one of my runs. I just checked the fluid after reading your post and it is dark brown. I will be changing it soon. Thanks.

With that in mind, here are three clutch fluid issue threads to review:
The straight path is to install a fan switch. You can mount it under the hood. Switch it on when you're at the drags strip and turn it off when you leave.
Excellent reference thread Ranger. Although launch techniques are pretty much the same with any street car it is good to get specific input for our cars, especially with the torque involved here.

Hope it helps you make your car accelerate faster by getting the driver dialed in. A dialed-in driver can beat a car with 50 more rwhp and an average driver. Just takes practice, practice, practice.
