Well, i ponied up and forked out more money for a battery than i ever have in my ENTIRE F*$#in LIFE!!!!
But thats ok... cause it was for a worthy cause... my corvette. I keep telling myself that, and i would appreciate some encouragement from other folks with this battery, that i didn't waste my money. Is this battery the solution for acid damage prevention, and/or was that money well spent?

Well spent. After my GM Delco died unexpectedly, I got the Red Top and it's never let me down.
Money well spent you can sleep with a smile tonight
It'll save you sometime. I played music with the car off for 4 hours once while I was working on the car and it started right up. That doesn't happen with other batteries
Just bought our 2002 Z06 this past saturday and didn't even have the car 2 hours and replaced the ac delco with a red top optima, those batteries are awesome!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't have one if ya gave it to me for free. They are a high priced POS and no better than a Wal-Mart battery. I'm sure others on this forum will agree w/ me. Good luck, you'll need it w/ a Optima battery....

This guy is FULL of crap!!! Ignore this post...you will LOVE your Optima Red Top. ESPECIALLY if you have any kind of aftermarket stereo with amps. Now I have had an Optima Yellow Top in the past and prefer it, but my 02 had a red top in it when I purchased car and I have had NO PROBLEMS with it (knock on wood )
I replaced my stock Delco over 5 years ago to prevent any acid damage. My red top is still going strong. I have never had a battery last me that long before. These batteries are very good.
I'm on my second red top in 6 months and this one keeps losing charge. The rest of the car checks out and does not drain the battery out of my truck. I'm about to give up and buy somthing else!!!
Bought the Optima Red Top for my 2004 coupe in September 2003 (three weeks after buying the coupe). When I traded the coupe for my current Mil Yellow 2002 Vert, one of the things that I carrried over to the new car was my Red Top battery.
Earlier this Spring, I went to start the car and nothing. Yeap, dead battery. Went back to the Advance Auto Parts store where I bought the Red Top and, low and behold, Optima batteries have a 3 year, no-questions-asked warranty. I didn't even have my receipt from my battery purchase 2 1/2 years ago!
Walked out the door with a new Red Top and a new, free 3 year warranty.
Worth the money? You bet your azz it is!!

OK, this could be a bad battery but it sure should like it's car-related and not battery-related. Two back to back bad batteries?
Take it to Advance Auto, NTB, or someplace similar that has free charging system diagnostics. That might help find the drain.

The RedTop battery is the biggest piece of sh*t ever made. I've had 3 of the damn things in three different vettes and none have lasted more than 4 months. I try to take it back to Advance Auto and they wanted no part of it, warranty was about as useful as used toliet paper. Went to Auto Zone and got new battery and it's been perfect so far. So far the score is Optima POS= , Auto Zone=
Sure would like to know where you guys are getting these optimas from... maybe a batch number or something.
Because as I said, my company has installed 1,000's of them (at least 2-3k, probably more if you consider all my companies branches). All of them either still going or replaced just "because" they were getting old (>4 years), only 2-3 times in the 8 years I've been here had we found a defective one.
Maybe you guys are getting >5 year old ones being sold as new?
