Greetings and Welcome to the forum. The EBCM is the electronic brake control module (one of the 5 computers that our cars have on board.) A failure of the EBCM will generally cause an incurable "Service ABS" "Service Traction Control" error code and message on the DIC. A failing battery can cause these symptoms as well but replacing the battery will make them go away, where with the EBCM issue they will not reset with a new battery.

Paul

Actually, it is Electronic Brake Control Module, or sometimes EBTCM Electonic Brake and Traction Control Module. It is the electronic portion of the ABS assembly on the frame in front of the engine (behind driver in earlier models) The other half of the assembly is the BPMV or Brake Pressure Modulating Valve. It seems if you read the posts lately that it is widespread, but if you think of the thousands of C5 drivers on this forum, 15-20 people having the problem is fairly insignificant, unless you're one of them, like me. Don't get too worried, but if your ABS, TC and AH (if yours has it) all go out, it's a likely suspect.

No sweat. As you mentioned, there's lots of little computers to keep track of in this car.
