Insurance Premium "Surcharge"

As for a surcharge, most companies use an ISO based symbol to rate a car - each car falls into a numerical category. A C5 may be a symbol 24 and a cavalier may be a symbol 12. These consider everything from likelihood of theft, cost of replacement parts, etc. Then each company prices a little differently based on their experience insurance cars in a given symbol. That may over simplify, but it's the general idea. I have not heard of a high-end vehicle surcharge on top of the symbol rate.
Been with Liberty Mutual for 46 years. My vette is only 654 for the year. That is full coverage, everything!! We have 4 cars on the policy and our house, so we get multi-car discount, and homeowner discount, and retired educator discount. My vette new in 03 was less than my 97 Z-28 by one hundred dollars a year. We only pay by the year and that gets another discount.
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Perhaps its better for a different location or age bracket, but I was paying quite a premium unknowingly for years until I started shopping around. I now reshop for insurance every 6 months (and call Gecio to ask to have my rate lowered heh), and I still haven't been able to get close to my Geico rate. Never had to use Geico though to actually pay out, so who knows how they actually are to deal with. *shrugs*
PS: [offtopic]Even the USAA credit card and savings accounts aren't all that hot after looking around. Emmigrant Direct offers better, I'd recommend checking em' out.
