Any Kansas City, MO area members have problems going with out the front plate? I do most of my driving on the Kansas side, where I work. Can KS leos' pull me over for not running the front plate? (KS has just the rear plate)
For those of you not familiar with KC metro- half of Kansas City is on the Kansas side and half on the Missouri side. Thanks
The folks over in the Great Lakes or Mountain - Prairie regional sections of the Forum may be of more help to you on this since it's not specific to the C5. Too, a number of folks that visit those regional sections may seldom make it here to C5 General. Good luck.
You won't have any problems driving in KS. I used to drive without the front plate when I had my C4. The KCMO cops never gave me a hassle. I even got a speeding ticket without the front plates and they didn't care. However, if you go anywhere else like Lee's Summit, Grandview, Raytown, Independence, etc, you might have problems. I've had several friends get tickets from those suburbs for no front plate.
I agree totally, Never had a problem in KCMO with 02 TA or 04 GTO and I never ran a plate....but I have a buddy who lives in Lees Summit and has received 2 tickets in his Infinity G35. One was for speeding and realized he had no plate, and one for just not having his front plate. I live on the KS side (KCK) and don't have to worry anymore, but the funny thing is when you apply for personal plates in KS the give you 2 plates, but you only have to run one!!! Go figure !?!?!?!
That's what I was figuring. I'm sure the KCMO police have more pressing issues than license plate infractions. WIth as many kansas cars driving around here (plaza & midtown area) it would take a very bored eye to pick out a missouri car with no front plate. Even though mine might stick out a little more
Thanks for the replies.
Well.... to tell you the truth, it depends on the mood of the LEO. PERIOD! Usually KS cops are used to seeing rear plates only so they would not pay that much attention. Well maybe they will in your case with that Red FRC and dark tint and headers etc (Trust me I am in the same boat )
MO side, I would NOT recommend it
I try to run my front plate as much as I can (only for shows and events I dont). I got pulled over once for not displaying it on the front and damage was $187.XX
But quite frankly, It does look HAWT without the front plate
Thanks for all the replies. Unfortunately, I have a few more weeks to mull over the topic. This happened leaving my building thursday. I hate main st. in the morning. :
I appreciate the concern. I've been sick since it happened. It was my fault, which makes it even worse. It was 9:30am, I was pulling out of the condo parking lot (46th and main approximately) going south. Needless to say, Main st was very busy and there was a moving truck parked to the left of the drive way and parked cars lined the other side. I was concentrating looking around the moving truck, saw it was clear, looked to the right, thought it was clear and pulled out. Next thing I know, bam, my pass window is gone. I wouldn't be too concerned if it would be just the door, but the rocker is cracked a little bit as well. Either way, it could have been a lot worse. The coffee delivery van suffered some minor damage.
I worked at a top notch body shop all through college, so they will get it and fix me up right. Can't wait for a fully buffed and polished car. Maybe I'll have them paint the rear bumber bottom flat black while its in there.
Sorry about you accident. I am sure that you will make it good as new. About the front plate I have been running with out one down here and knock wood I haven't had any problems with the Springfield PD
