Default Problems with Keyless Entry Remote Transmitter

Ok I just bought this 98' Coupe. Went thru the manual did everything it said. Everything works fine lock, unlock, trunk. I'll lock it and walk away for a few minutes come back and it doesn't work anymore. Can't figure it out. I think the car had a alarm put in at one time, but is now takin out. Am I just not programming correctly or could it be something else. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Replace the battery in your FOB. Sometimes it seems to have enough power when it really doesn't. Then, go through the reprogramming routine again.

See my response in the thread below. This is what I did when mine were acting that way. They both now work like new....

Batteries or fob? Fob might be, but battery could have been around awhile. Worth changing just to rule that issue out.

still nothing. Did all yours do something similar to mine. I mean it works fine for like as long as I keep cycling on off. Seems to stop once i stop pressing buttons for 1 1/2 minutes.

This must be the 4th or 5th post about Fobs in the past 2 weeks. GM must've coded the chips to die. Mine flaked out last week, so I replaced the battery...no go. I examined the board and it made at rattleing sound, so they coded mine to self destruct.

Did you bend the battery clips to keep a tighter contact on the battery?
I think that is a key issue here. Pardon the Pun.

Yeah I tried. I actually use to have a Pager store and did the samething with them. Maybe some rubbing alcohol and cube tip to clean everything.

Now from my undertanding I thought the rattling noise was for the battery saver for the passive mode.

I have had the same problem with mine. doesnt work at all now and when it did work it had to be within about 2 feet of drivers door. I have tried all of the above with no luck. i guess ill just have to get a new one too.
