[Z06] A/C lighting problems

A/C lighting problems
Well the A/C display is out on my car. I just took the car in to the dealership and they told my that I had to replace the whole unit 
and not just the lighting. Is this true?

I am having the same exact issue and there was post on this a couple of weeks ago where people mentioned it is an easy sotering job for one of the cable which get loose in the back.
It also comes back on some cars by just knocking on it with you rknuckle which I did try on mine and it works for a little bit but then goes away.
I had asked the folks if anyone has a write up on it but I didn't get any response back but there were folks who claimed they have fixed it.
