I'm hoping for Monday evening, Memorial Day. But then again, I failed to estimate anything properly along the way.

Couple new pics.

One set in place (loose).

I began wetsanding tonight and got ~60% of one 1/4 panel sanded in an hour. Tomorrow evening I'll have 2-3 hours available. I want to get one of them buffed.

Lookin good, just think, you're almost there!! Now quick question for you, or at least for you professional body shop guys...

How long would a project like this take in a shop with a pro dedicated to this one project? Working 8 hours a day, would it take a few days, a week, maybe a few? I'm not asking because I plan on doing it, I'm just curious!

Now get back to work, the light is visible at the end of the tunnel!

Thanks!

What compunds and pads do you use when you buff?

I'm blocking with 1500 right now leaving just a few tiny craters and then I'll finish off with 2000. This time I'm going to try and skip any compunding and go right to a yellow foam pad and Meguiars No. 1 medium cut cleaner then a new yellow pad and Mequiars No. 2 Fine cut cleaner then a new white pad with their swirl remover No. 9 and finally ending with a black pad and Menzerna final polish number 2.

After she's air out real well after reassembly, I'll apply a glaze by hand but plan to hold off on any wax for 2-3 weeks from when I painted.

Hmmm? Just a shot in the dark, I bet a "Good" shop could reproduce what I did in 4or 5 weeks. It'd be a two man job a lot of the time but I doubt they'd have to put more than 50-60 hours in per week. Say 4-6 weeks and 200-250 man hours of work. I'll end up close to 450 hours invested by the time I'm all done. Keep in mind I'm not a professional, I just love custom one-off stuff and can't begin to afford my tastes, so I had to figure out how to do it myself.

Also, if you got with a shop that had mock up and mold building experience, they may be quite a bit faster. At $50, it'd could easily be a $10,000 job. And that doesn't include the wheels and tires.

THANKS for the question, I feel even better about my work!!!!

I will also lower the car further to sit just right on the new rims and I have to install the A&A frame saver rails now that the underside of my rockers are brand new again. I can't even get out of the driveway until they're installed.

I have a lot to do after sanding and buffing to get her back together, cleaned up and worthy of being seen in public. :o It'll be a busy, but enjoyable Memorial day weekend for me!!!

Oh yeah, and I'll get to polish the lips of my iForged Aeros!!!! That will be fun!

Actually, the rear flare continues all the way down and overlays the rear fascia for a tight fit. My plan near the end of the summer/fall is to install a fiberglass rear fascia and bond the fascia and 1/4 panels together and go completely seamless out back. If seamless just proves to be too difficult, I'll cut the lower portion of the flare and continue the factory rear fascia seam through the flare bonding the lower section to the fiberglass rear fascia.

No one could pay me enough to make a complete 2nd set, but if there is interest (read $$$ up front), I'll make a set of molds off of my finished product and make the raw parts for someone else to splice them into factory 1/4 panels. I sent ACP an email to gage interest on using my 1/4 panels to make a complete molds to build replacement 1/4
panels but never heard back from them.
