hypertech programmer 3 locked???

hypertech programmer 3 locked???
I am looking at maybe buying this thing and it is locked... how difficult is it to have it unlocked and what does it cost? Anyone that has used this programmer what do you think? Any good? thanks...

I would not pay more than $1 for a "locked" programmer. You will need to call hypertech and talk to them about unlocking it. Keep looking around and you should be able to find one that is "unlocked" for $150 or less.

The concept of a "locked" Hypertech is simple to fix - tell the owner before you to remove the programming from their car, and that will unlock it. Doing anything legal about it is a pain in the ***, if possible at all. I don't know of any way to illegally unlock it, but I'm sure it exists somewhere. Hypertech will NOT help you much on this, though, unless you have a darn good story about why you can't remove the other programming.

I would never use a hypertech programer again. Did one in conjunction with a dyno tune, car lost power (15 rwhp) and ran poorly (spikes through out the power curve). We uninstalled and got the power back.
