Default Need advise - Inside or Outside

I will soon be purchasing new wheels. Do you guys have your balancing weights on the inside of the wheels or on the outside? I want to have my on the inside since it provides a cleaner look but the shop who will do the mounting and balancing told me the weights on the inside are not as effective and yield poorer balancing results. Please share your experiences. Thanks.

Also, the outside weights look like crap and will scratch the lip of your wheels!..

I recently changed mine, went with the Chrome C6 Z06, my car is 01 Vert. On the right rear wheel they put the weights on the outside, said they had trouble balancing it. Looks like crap, a row of 5 or 6 stick on weights with a row of 3 on top of that. I will change that or the wheel soon. Oh, almost forgot, I have a steering wheel shake at 70mph.

Find a shop that will stick them on the inside. It can be done and still get a good balance.

I purchased my 02 used. It looked as though the original owner had weights on the outside but then put them on the inside to get that clean look you are aiming for. Let me tell you that from having the weights originally on the outside have left my clear coated stock rims scratched and the marks that they left are quite an eyesore

moral of the story = get the weights on the inside you will regret it otherwise

Defintely inside. When I bought my 2000 it had the wheel weights on the outside of the wheel. I got new tires shortly after and had "road force" balancing (?). The weights are square and on the inside of the wheel and almost completely hidden. The old weights left permanent marks on the wheels. I just switched to Z06 type wheels and took it to the same shop. I've not had any vibration problems, etc.

Most wheels can be balanced with the weights on the inside unless it is really off. If it is that off, I would return the wheel, or rotate the tire on the rim to a different location and see if that helps. I would NEVER put the weights on the outside of a wheel.

Put the weights to the inside. Will look much better and a good shop should be able to balance the wheel perfectly.
