I'm guessing AT LEAST $4000 or up for a job you that won't be disappointed with. As you know, changing the color of a car is a big job and an expensive one to do right. Plus, you'll be taking a hit on the resale value -- someone sees a car that's been repainted and they tink major negelct or major damage repair. And if the paint job isn't top notch, that hurts resale, too.
I'd suggest you're better off selling the car and taking whatever you get for it, plus whatever you would have been willing to pay, and use that money for a good car in the color of your choice.
I had mine repainted (not a repaint w/ different color) after I got hit. They color sanded between coats, etc. The shop owner told me that would have been an $8k-$10k paint job if we hadn't already had it apart doing the bodywork. They only charged me $2500 over the portion that the insurance co. paid for.
To do the job right, the whole car has to come apart .... hood ,hatch, doors, headlight buckets, front and rear facia...inner wheel wells. then it all has to be put back together... 4,000 would be very very cheap...custom paint work around here for a corvette complete color change is 10 grand.

i priced repaints w/color change here...and i got a few quotes w/life time warranties of about 2800-3200 bux
was gonna go from black to nassau blue
i stayed black. for now.
But i'd love to own a Nassau Blue Vert (my dream car)
a repaint of origianl color around here is 5 grand... a complete tear down and reassemble is about 40 hours... thats about 2500 dollars with out any paint or materials and it is not any paint labor...a complete paint job uses about 600 dollars worth of materials.. unless your shop is paying kids 8 bucks an hour... you aint getting much for 2800 BUX.

That's about what it costs around here for a high quality paint job that you can be proud of.
