Change them to be on the safe side.
I have 24,000 on my'99 and I'm changing mine.
If you have the orginal plugs, some times the little pucks fall of and give you a wide gap. The plug wires get hard with the heat and get damaged when you pull them off. Also if the plugs are left in the vehicle too long they sometimes seize to the heads and you will have another problem.

The stock Iridium plugs should last you close to 100K miles. Old plugs have an effect on your car's idle, a car's owner could tell by just listening to his/her C5.

If ever there is something wrong with your ignition, you will get an error code/ CEL - may it be a misfire or something more.

I changed mine to NGK TR55s and bought MSD wires to replace the stockers.
