Default Single-Wheel Jacking

I have read most of thr posts which explain how to lift the entire front and/or back of the vehicle, but my question is: "Is it safe to simply jack the vehicle from the SIDE-RAIL ONLY (using an aluminum puck) one wheel at a time just far enough to remove a single wheel at a time?" I am not sure if these points on the rails will even lift a single corner of the vehicle - or require too much force?

Point taken - I guess there is no easy solution to just remove one wheel without lifting two off the ground?

Yes you can...no problem. I've been doing just that when I want to clean the rims off the car, and do the wheelwells. It's no problem to the car.

I agree, you can lift the C5 at any of the jacking points. The C5's frame is very stiff, gone are the days of opening the doors so that panels don't rub against each other due to the flexible frame.

The only issue with lifting at the jacking points is if you lift both wheels off at the same time. After doing this multiple times a month when changing tires I found the area of the frame where the shipping slot is located will cave in around the factory pucks. When I used a piece of 2x4 I did not have the issue. Hockey pucks are larger in diameter and may not cause the problem either.

By the way I never had a problem jacking any of my C3's or C4's that required opening the doors, hood, etc. Another myth.

I use my motorcycle jack to get one side up high enough to get my regular jack under to the frame. Works great.

This is how I did it too to take all the wheels off one at a time so that I could clean and Rejex them and clean the wheel wells.

I also do this, especially when at the track if I need to do a quick brake bleed, I don't always bring 4 jack stands and everything needed to life the entire car.
