Default Rear end leak

Went for a 75 mile or so round trip & parked it in the garage. I noticed a small puddle of gear lube under the rear end. I couldnt see where exactly it was coming from. I wiped it clean, in hopes that next time it leaks, it will be easy to follow the trail. Any ideas in the meantime?

Goto the C5 Tech section and do a search on diff leak. It is a common problem on the C5.

Concur. Common issue. Not a big deal. Covered by warranty. Normally no collateral issues from the repair. Good time for changing the tranny fluid too while they're back there and in the mood.

A small puddle would concern me enough to get it fixed soon. Gotta consider what's leaking when the car's not in the garage.

I bet it is the left rear axle seal. There is a newer version available now.

Had the same problem at about 4000 miles. I took it in and they replaced the seal and the tech said he didn't notice any problems and was unsure why it leaked as well but still replaced the seals as he had checked everything out to be sure no damage. About a week later took it on about a 75 mile drive so the fluid got nice and hot and still another puddle about the size of a quarter on my garage floor and it never leaked again after that.. I'm guessing he overfilled it and it came thru the vent tube due to heat. I would still take it in to be safe.

Make sure they use anaerobic sealant on gasket...or it'll only leak again!

Had 3 fixes under original warranty and 1 under GMPP. Dealer did all of the above. Time will tell. My car has 25k miles.

I wouldn't wait too long.
