Default CCW 505A Center Caps

I was one of the first to buy a set of 505A's when CCW first offered them and have always liked how they set the C5 lines off. Not too boy-racer and not too much like jewelry.

But the one feature I never really cared much for was the center caps that came with them and I said as much to John at CCW. He told me back then they were planning on releasing a billet replacement but they got busy and it slipped a few times. I even went as far as drawing up a few possibilities as suggestions but never got around to following up by having a set machined.

Recently, I heard that CCW had finally come out with a new billet center cap and wasted no time contacting them. Sure enough, Chip at CCW confirmed it and I had a set on order immediately. I received them today and I have to say that my expectations were easily exceeded.

Not only did they do their usual excellent machining and polishing magic, but the design of how the cap fits into the wheel is very well thought out. It is installed from the outside without removing the wheel as is done on the Classics but is very solid, secure and almost appears to be part of the wheel. The trick part is how they managed to make them appear lower-profile than the originals and still fit over the protruding rear half shaft threaded end so the rears don't stick out further than the front caps as the originals did.

I am impressed - and very satisfied. I ordered them without the CCW logo as I'm thinking of possibly adding the C5 logo.

What can I say - CCW rocks.

Here's a shot of the original cap.

The new billet cap. (I know, I know - the wheels are overdue for a polish, but hey, I just moved. )

I recently bought a set of SP500s and they had the new center cap style. Mine has the words CCW etched into them though. I love them.

Ed !!!!!!!!! this is so exciting , they look great.... Ill be in contact with them shortly.. I think I may have told you last year that they bought a machine center just for this purpose, but the machine was sitting on a dock in California...This was suppose to hapen last year, but I think CCW has made a mark in the wheel industry and they have been very busy.

Good to see you post here my good friend...

Bill, good buddy!

Was a pleasant surprise to find the package waiting for me after a tough week at work. I had planned to be at the Cruise-In but a sick SO and a customer crisis at work kept me here. No complaints, though, I'm lovin' every minute of it.

Alex, I love the SP500's. I would have had to break out a quarter for the coin toss between those and the 505A's if those had been out when I was wheel shopping.

The new caps look good. Putting a C5 logo on them will be a nice touch.

Thanks,
I got the rotors in a group purchase from WDP. The group purchase seemed to go bad for a lot of folks, but my rotors arrived in a timely manner and have been perfect so far.

This is a sore subject for a lot of folks as some are still trying to get things right or get their money back.
