Not being an expert, I would say yes, it can be used if cut into the stock system... but why?!? I don't think the cost of the mod would justify any performance benefits... I thought that the X-pipe on my LT setup was just to reduce the popping from the system and equalize pressure, not really to increase a lot of hp...

I've got an X-pipe on my car and all I have is a cat back system. I installed it to help quiet down the drone and popping I was experiencing with my B&B exhaust. Worked wonders. Probably not much of a performance gain, but the noise reduction was well worth it.
