I just left my mom's house after eating my birthday cake and what happens? I wanted to cruise with my windows down. My drivers side window will not go down. I just hear a click when I push the button and nothing else. Has anyone had this problem? Is it going to be a dealer job? I have API extended warranty I am going to make sure they cover this. Any advice in the meantime?
While holding the down button slam the door real hard, usually works. If that does not work remove the door panel and hit the window motor sharply with the handle of a screwdriver or similar device while holding down the button. If you have warranty they will replace it with the same crappy unit that will fail on you again.
Mine did the exact same thing. Now it works just great. I dont know what happened..but hitting it didn't help. It seems like some sort of weird connection. The click you hear is a relay switch though..just push it every once in a while. Mine just randomly started working again after a month and its worked just great since then..same speed as the passenger window.
Do access the following link. Also, this common dilemma to the C5 can be addressed from several different angles. Firstly, check for specific trouble codes, and, check all connections. Secondly, see link below. Thirdly, if your power window switch, AND/OR, the power window modulator are intact and not faulty, do inspect the accordian hose that exits the inner door panel and enters the kick panel of the front fender. Oftentimes, the wiring harnesses inside become kinked causing power window malfunction. And, of course, if your vehicle is under warranty, you can easily have the entire power window motor assembly unit replaced at no cost to you. Here is the link mentioned above:
I did not have any luck with any of the suggested fixes. I ended up ordering the motor/regulator unit from Fred Beans for my passenger window for like $230 or so. It took about 3 hours to install everything including a half hour test drive to make sure the window didn't make any wind noise. It was not a difficult project. Good luck!
Thanks for all the information. I slammed the door several times Saturday morning (5:00 am) before I left for work. Still did not work. As I traveled to work I decided to try the button again, and guess what, the damn thing worked. I am now able to roll my window up and down. Thanks for all the good input.
