From: Ok! So you don't believe in conspiracies, but will you acknowledge the possibility of there being coordinated activities in secret places? Texas
It's finally happened!
Got my 1st ticket in the 'vette today. I left a stop light with a guy in a red turbo RX-7. The RX-7 stayed next to me as I accelerated normally and about a 1/2 mile later LEO jumps out in the road on foot and directs us both to turn off the road. He proceeded to ticket us, 49 in a 35 on a 6 lane road, while complimenting me on the car and how good it sounds. Says he's always wanted a 'vette. I was so relieved that he didn't try to stick me with street racing that when he asked me if I knew why he stopped me I answered, "Yes Sir, for speeding!"
I would have bet money that my 1st ticket in the 'vette would have been for going much faster than 49 mph. Who knew!
From: Mustangs are like Tampons.. Every P*$$* has one!
At least he wasn't an a$$ to you. Don't it suck that he was on foot though. I kind of hoped my first ticket would be something more exciting then him walking out in front of me! He screwed me on that too since I couldn't see him walking in front of the mustang in front of me... he ticketed me $113.50 for following too close..(the mustang down shifted) I didn't realize he was slowing down soon enough...
Sucks that you got a ticket. How much was it anyways?
And OF COURSE you HAVE learned your lesson right!?
From: "This is not a psychotic episode, but a cleansing moment of clarity."
Sorry for the ticket. Years ago, I chirpped the tires leaving a hotel in my then turbo Z. Same deal. Cop stepped out on the street from the curb, waving me over with a flashlight. I felt like such a dork getting pulled over that way. Wrote me up for "exhibition of speed", but the judged threw that out and just let me go to traffic school.
In Case you want to get the points and insurance increases taken off...
Good lookin' out!
I don't yet know how much the ticket is. Here in Texas they make you call in a few days to find out how much the ticket is. I've been a good boy lately. I haven't had a ticket in almost 3 full years, so Def. Driving is most definitly in my future. I have certainly learned my lesson though. Next time I'll just dust that pesksy RX-7 quickly from the stop light and be at a legal speed by the time I reach the cop! Just joking!
Thanks for allowing me to share!
It sounds like the cop was pretty cool. Sorry you got the ticket but we all are stuck with the old "you want to play............" It could have been worse.
They had radar set up in my neighborhood on the main street a couple of days ago. They had two cruisers parked out of sight on a side street, and there were two of them with radar guns, hiding behind a bush by the sidewalk. Speed limit is 25 but many exceed that by quite a bit.
You have to heed the temptation of being aggressive in your car. Vettes are like honey to Leo's. There is always one around just waiting in the bushes for you to slip up. Don't worry, they will be their to catch you. Although, you will not like what they catch you with! A TICKET! Arghh! I have had many! FOrtunately, none in the vette! KNock on wood!
cool though some think it is, street racing is illegal &, revelation though this be to some here (scary in itself), dangerous. please, take it to the track if you really must prove something to a total stranger who really doesn't give a royal **** about you. it's amazing how some folks get a vette, mustang gt, or other & immediately think they are: a) qualified to handle the high horsepower and b) deputized to drive like idiots. given these types of folks, small wonder it is that leos look hard @ performance cars & that insurance companies charge more to insure them. bub
