Default Code Question

Hi Everyone.

A couple weeks ago I installed LG Pros, X-over, and cats. I installed the rear O2 sensors into the O2 bungs on the collectors. I put plugs into the rear O2 bungs and installed O2 simulators in the front O2 sensor wiring loom.

After about 30 miles worth of driving (street and freeway...with some heavy accelleration) she threw a code:
P0153 Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Slow Response Bank 2 Sensor 1

I cleared the code and after about 30 miles worth of driving I got the same code again.

Which sensor is this...drivers side or passenger side? I'm taking her in for a dyno tune next week. Will a tune eliminate the issue or is there a problem with the sensor itself?

I do remember rubbing a sensor with a shop cloth and thinking I may have just made a mistake. I've only got 14K miles on her...if that matters.

I value your inputs gang.

Thanks.

-Jay

Hi dpd,

Thanks.

Is the code from a sensor or from one of the O2 sims plugged into the front O2 sensor wire plug?:o

Forgive me for being a bit thick.

you shouldn't have any simms in the front plugs.the code is for a sensor.

You are correct. The sims are in the rear plugs. My bad.

I drove it again today after clearing the code. It returned after about 50 miles of mostly freeway cruising. I double checked for leaks around the sensors (on a lift with the engine running) and there does not appear to be any leaks.

I guess I need a new sensor.

Thanks for your help.

for ha-ha's check the o2 fuse first, though if it was blown you should be setting faults for both banks.more than likely it is a sensor.if you want to vrify it before you buy one, swap them.if the fault moves to the other bank, you need the sensor.

It's easy enough to check a fuse.

Switching the sensors is a good idea. I'll do it.

I also examined the wires pretty closely when I had it on the lift. They all look good...no signs of heat damage.

Arg! I knew I shouldn't have rubbed it with the rag. Bonehead move, man.
