FRC vs. targa vs. vert
I also own 76 & 79 Coupes with glass tops which never come off Period !
When I traded in my 95 Coupe for a C5 I knew I did
NOT want a coupe... (hated the large rear glass).. So
it was either the Fixed Roof (Z06 or FRC) or a Convertible...
Ended up with a third Convertible... just more flexable and I figured I would not use the Z's extra HP all that much in real life..(lol) Police not as big a problem as my wife...saying slow down slow down.. But then again she does not like to mess up her hair..and likes the top up and the A/C on...
Maybe I should trade in my wife... ???

the FRC is very ridgid, and private. I dont feel like I can be seen inside as well (think limo). At the track, it is the ulimate sleeper. I was faster that verts and coupes at the track and they all came to see what mods I had. Much to their suprise, all I had was catback. I would like to think FRC's got the "wenesday" motors as mine dynoed at 306RWHP bone stock! I am stretching here though!
The FRC looks more exotic to me. I have had many people tell me that mine is the best looking C5 they have seen. I ask them what is different and they can't tell me. But when I point out the trunk, then it hits them!
Not to mention FRC's are rare (approx 4000 in 99 and 2000 in 00) and will likely begin to hold their value better than the more common coupes and verts.

As you can see I'm a little biased! Good luck as any vette is a sweet ride IMO!
If your climate warrants it - there is nothing like a Vette convertible. If you need to be able to carry stuff, the coupe can't be beat, and if you're wanting the stiffest, highest performance version, go with a Z06.
I went for the coupe and I love it!

The only way to go! The look of the vert, the power of a Z = The ULTIMATE Corvette.
Nothing better than a topless cruise with a clear sky while the sun's setting!
