Default Bought a buffer over the weekend.

I bought a 10" random orbital buffer over the weekend. I waxed the wifes suv and then my Vette. I like it! I always thought I did a good job hand waxing but the finish this thing puts on the car is slick!

I use a Dewalt variable speed 'buffer' (no orbital).

Be sure and use 'foam' pads. Stay away from the old 'wool' pads.
3M part number 5723 for the pad and some 6060 compound will bring her back better than new.
No swirls left and gives it that 'waxed' look

Looks great JoshVette!

I bought the Craftsman # 00910723000 10" random orbital buffer. It is not a high price unit but it seems to do a good job. It came with 3 applicator pads, 3 terry cloth pads, a polishing pad and a hand applicator pad and came in a plastic storage tub. I bought it for $40.00.

I highly recommend going to the car care products forum and chatting with the folks there. There are pads and there are pads. I swear by the Lake Country constant pressure foam pads. Different pads have a different agressivesness just like different polishes have different agressiveness. You only want to use the right pad and polish combination to do the job, nothing more agressive.

I used Meguires wax which I have also used to hand wax. I like the stuff. My father was in the auto repair business until he retired. He taught me a lot about paint and what to do and not to do to it.

there is that notorious orange peel finish that we all have come accustom to. Great job on the finish. Wish there was an easier way to get rid of that orange peel. I have it too.

oh and i have the Poter cable as well and am thinking of getting a rotary next.

shananl, post up some pics if you have any of your work. we love pics here

I use a 7" random orbital. I like the smaller size over the 10".
Since we are showing butt shots...
