has anyone heard about the new fuel thats going to be $2.00 a gallon? do our cars have the engine to handle it? if we do, will it run the same as regular gas? post your thoughts here!
Yea, only thing I have heard about is E-85. Won't work as the cars are currently set up.
The way that I understand it is that Ethanol does not make a many BTUs as gas so it takes more to produce the same amount of power. Thus the vehicle has to have larger injectors and larger fuel lines to get more fuel to the engine. Then there are sensors in the lines to tell the computer what type of fuel you are running; E85, gas, or some combo of both. Then the computer will adjust the engine for the fuel currently in use.
Our Vettes are not equiped for this.
Of course, since you need more E85 to make the same power as gas, your MPG when using E85 drops way down from what it is with gas
