Two mods in one day

In a thread about front license plates awhile back, someone posted pics of their Kewl "smoothie" license plate frame for their C5 that matches the body color. I've been running without the front plate since I bought the car, but the LEO's around here are aggressive and I don't want to give them any free passes to pull me over. So I've reluctantly decided to mount the front plate.
If you're going to mount front plates, the smoothies seem like a great way to go. But I felt like making my own, saving some money and getting some practice in with painting at the same time. I already had the black plastic GM plate frame that the PO's never removed from the original plastic bag. I ordered a spray can of matching paint from paintscratch.com and already had a can of clearcoat on hand from a previous purchase. This afternoon, I hit the frame with some etching primer, followed by a couple of coats of sandable primer, sanded it smooth, then applied the color and 4 coats of clear. I'll buff it out with some rubbing compound later tonight or tomorrow morning. It's looking great, so far!! Plus, I've got lots of paint left over for other touch ups. It's been a good day.

I didn't want to post any pics of the frame until it was installed, but here it is after the clearcoats, waiting to be cut and buffed.

It was too dark to take a decent picture of the Homelink, but we've all seen enough of those already!
Glad your pleased with the Homelink visor! I just received my "Supporting Vendor" status so I will be offering these and several other products on the forum in the near future! Thanks again for the order.
The plate frame looks great! Where did you get the blank? My car didn't come with anything.
Happy modding!
Rick

Yeah, the Homelink visor is awesome. I love it. Thanks again for the great service. I'll keep my eye on your other products as well. The front frame came with my car. I think that dealers sell them for about $15 if I'm not mistaken.
Since the above picture was taken, disaster struck when I handled the frame before it was ready and fouled the new paint. I had to basically start from scratch again.
But this is how we learn!!!

Sounds like a very satisfying day!
