Default OEM C6 wheels on a C5?

I know it's been asked but I've searched for over an hour and cant find the answer.

Do stock C6 wheels bolt on a stock '00 C5 or do you need a spacer?

The answer is yes and no. The fronts will fit fine, but the rears will not. The rears need a spacer...

You'll need a spacer. The polished aluminum C6 wheels require more of a spacer. The chrome C6 wheels require less. Minimum 1/2 on the aluminum ones. 1/4 will work fine on the Chromies.

I've had both on my car. Originally had the polished aluminum C6 wheels as replacements when my polished Y2Ks were stolen. I got the polished C6 wheels thinking they'd be shiny like my Y2Ks. No Dice. In fact, they looked bad. They weren't shiny at all - damn near gunmetal grey looking.

Had to space the heck out of the polished aluminum wheels to get them to work. I couldn't stand the look of them though, so had them replaced with a set of chromies. I was surprised that they were a different offset, requiring less of a spacer. They are the perfect fit actually - coming exactly even with the fender well. They also clean up *MUCH* easier than the polished aluminums. I am very pleased with my setup.

Thanks so much for the info. My search was getting frustrating!

Does anyone make a spacer?

I just put C6 wheels on my wife's C4 (which is close to the C5 mounting). It took a 1 1/8" rear spacer. Looks good though.

Don't confuse the word "spacer" for adapter. If you want to mount the c6 wheels to where they fit the wheel well nicely...Don't fool with the spacers. You want a 1" thick aluminum adapter. Ebay lists a whole bunch of people that sell the adapters for c5's.

How did the spacer affect the wheel bolting to the studs? Did you have to change out the studs?
