Default Ghost Seat...

Have an 04Z...anyone ever experience seat movement when you unlock/disable the alarm via key fob? If I lock/arm via the fob, run an errand, come back and disarm/unlock via the fob, the seat moves. I thought I was just losing it, but now I'll stand at the window, unlock it and I can see the seat move. Sometimes, it moves back, sometimes it tilts back. And I am making sure that the seat entry option via the DIC is off.

I'm wondering if this a hint that the battery is starting to go. It's driven every few days, at most 4 or 5 days pass before I'm able to drive it. It never used to do this, probably noticed it within the past month or so. And when it started doing it, it happened like 2 out of every 5 unlocks. Now it's like almost everytime I unlock it.

Thinking about just switching to a red top. But I would hate to dump a perfectly good battery. But from what I've read in the past, these Delco batteries are notorious for going dead without warning.

Thanks...

On an 04 you have a top terminal battery which did not have the problem the side terminal batteries had with the positive battery post falling out of the battery. Most Delco batteries last a long time. Their big failure was the battery post on side terminal batteries. When the positive post falls out of the battery you are dead in the water with no warning. I drove one of my trucks into Jiffy Lube for an oil change and had to be pushed out because the battery chose that time to fall apart and leak acid all over the place.

Even after the post fell out and battery acid leaked all over the batteries usually had plenty of electrical juice.

When I dis-arm my 04 the side mirror moves to an alternate position, even when memory is reset for that particular key fob...wtf? I am right there with ya.

I have noticed the same thing. I was in the car and accidently hit the unlock button. The seat moved back slightly with me in it. I would gues it is a function of inaccuracy of the seat memory.

Default 2001 with similar problem

The "Memory Seat" on my 2001 Z06 has never been reliable. It loses its' mind regularly, sometimes moving all the way up, requiring me to manually move it back, using the control switch. I can hear the seat move when I unlock using the remote, sometimes moving up to the point that I can't get in without manually moving the seat back.

I do not have memory seats in my Z06, but I do in my Bonneville. Depending on which remote I use (1 or 2), the seat will move. Their is also an entry mode which allows for easier entry/exit from the vehicle. It also adjusts the mirrors, radio, and dash units (I think). It sounds like this is what is happening in your Z's. Not sure, just a guess.

Oh, come on guys, read the owners manual. Seat memory controls both the seat position of the driver's seat and the mirrors. It's really easy. Set the driver's seat and mirrors where you like them to be. Then with the ignition key in the on position, hold down the #1 memory button until the light blinks and stays on, then let go. You've just set the memory for key fob #1. If you have a second fob, you can do the same for #2. If you're wife drives the car, you can set one key fob for your settings, and one for hers. When you unlock the doors with #1 key fob, memory sets it to the #1 settings. #2 fob gets you the #2 settings. If you want both fobs the same, just program the memory for both with the mirrors and seat in the same position. Simple.

I just wanted to quote this to stress to any other posters that you understand, perhaps better than they do, what the seat entry option is. Bluestreak63 is having a legitimate issue, and I agree, some folks need to RTFM.

Thanks for the responses guys. I do make sure the seat entry is off. But it seems like it's happening to other people too (GRRRRR8!), so I guess it's somewhat good to know, it's not an isolated incident. I do have a redtop in another car...I may just try to swap it and see if the issue persists. If it goes away, I'll be buying another redtop...

Some of you let your wives drive your cars?

mine does it to sometimes.....the only thing it could be is the memory on the seating and mirrors.

Mine does that too. The seat and mirrors move when I hit the unlock button. It's the car's way of telling me that someone else in my household was driving it.
