Default WOW what a difference

I have a 02' vert and have done a few bolt on mods, but just today cut off the precats, and WOW, what a differece.
The low end is sooo much more responsive and a noticable difference in power.

I had exchanged the stock exhaust for the Z06 Ti, but did it at the same time as the headers, and vararam. That made a big difference never knew which did the most.

Apparently, the exhaust wasn't doing much, but is now.

Diffinetly worth the time and money. { My local muffler shop did the job, for 50.00.}

Later,
Jw

What do you mean? If you had headers already wouldn't all of the cats have been removed?

Yeah I get that but he said he cut the precats off maybe he meant the main cats...you can't leave precats on with headers can you?

Hi,
I put on JBA shorty headers, so I still had the pre-cats in place.
Since added a x pipe as well.

Can't you just gut the pre-cats? I was thinking about doing that...I know I won't see much of a HP gain, but it would sound better.

Actually, I just looked. Since I have longtubes...I don't have pre-cats. So, i'm just gonna gut the cats. Should sound alot better.

Along w/the longtubes, I have an X-pipe and Borla.

wow I never knew they made headers that short where they left the precats on! I don't have precats on my car and my first mod was to remove the main cats which seemed to make a nice difference as well

for me... if there was a power gain - it was small (or maybe just wishful thinking). The most noticeable change I noticed was the deepening of the exhaust note.

Can't help but think the precats had to be restrictive though... just by looking at the material itself. And there's a reason why the Corvette engineers determined the need to remove them on the Z06.
