Do any of you know the current status of the bill that was introduced to create a special license plate for Corvettes and thus eliminating the requirement for a front license plate on all Corvettes registered in Illinois?

Not positive, but I think that bill is going nowhere, especially when you consider that Illinois and Chicago are looking into the use of Photo tickets. Unfortunately, don't think it will happen.
You don't really think something that stupid and would ever pass (or even get out of committee) do you.....If you do, there's a bridge in Brooklyn for sale... Our lawmakers are a bunch of morons at times, but, give them a little credit once and a while..... I laughed for 15 minutes when I first heard about this proposal. Anyone who thinks this proposal has any kind of a chance at all, better get in line to see Santa next Xmas.......

If it wasn't for the chicago area i think this would be an easy solution, the downstate lawmakers could care less about a license plate they are more worried about small business and farmers. It's great to live in simplicity.

you're in pekin huh? i grew up there and now live in east peoria. what kind of vette do you have?
It passed one time about ten years ago before both houses of the legislature.
Edgar vetoed it because the State Police wanted the front plate.
The car dealers who worked real hard on it, and spent a lot of money trying to get it to pass that time, say they learned their lesson and won't bring it up. Too much money spent for no result. One of the guys who was involved told me this story.
HB1053 Robert Rita VEH CD-CORVETTE PLATE Rule 19(a) / Re-referred to Rules Committee 3/10/2005
Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Authorizes the Secretary of State to issue to a registered owner of a Corvette a special Corvette license plate to be displayed on that vehicle. Provides that only one rear license plate needs to be displayed on that vehicle.
Not going to happen.... Illinois just signed a deal with the Commonwealth of Virginia to set up their "photo enforcement" program. Once it's in full gear, they expect to generate 4000 tickets a day.
IL is BROKE, and looking for revenue.
Seeing that there are several of you from here in the Peoria area, watch your speed in the construction zones. I am out in it daily, and see some poor soul getting a ticket almost every time I go somewhere. As for the bill, I agree. I would like to not use a front plate, but don't believe it will ever happen in this state.
Well, I figured it would be to good to be true. The reason I brought it up was a guy I talked to last Sunday at a car show at Worden Martain's in Champaign thought it had passed. I hadn't heard anything about it but I doubted it had.
Sure to bad. Woody would have been more than happy to take my new vanity plate back off the front!
