Default Coupe to Z06?

I have a "98 coupe and I'm looking at a "04Z. How many of you have gone from a coupe or vert to a Z, and miss the ability to run with the top off? I realize there are alot of other benefits that come with the Z06, but sometimes its nice to go topless! Thanks

You will love the Z06. I had a coupe and a convertible and I loved them both, but the Z06 is a outstanding car straight from the factory. Very fast, and handles great! I do miss the open air sometimes but I just stomp on the gas pedal and my memory fades away!

I went from a coupe to a Z06. Granted, it was a '95, but the top still came off.

In the 3.5 years I owned the '95, I took the top off the car 3 times.. I know the C5 tops come off a LOT easier.. I just didn't care about it.

I wouldn't trade the Z in for anything right now

Similar situation..... I had a 1996 Grandsport and I probably took the top off 2 times per year (if that) the fixed roof car is so much more rigid and tight.... I hardly ever miss the ability to remove the roof.

Go for the Z

I had both too. My 89 Targa top....maybe took it off a few times in the yr I had it. Then my 94 vert that I just sold, I had it a yr and a month....only let the top down 2 or 3 times & the weather here is beautiful. I just got the Z a few weeks ago & havent missed the open top feel yet. Do yourself a favor.....BUY THE Z06!

I had a verte for ten years, before the Z. It was always too cold to hot too windy or whatever for the top down. The only good time of the year to go topless here in the northeast is a couple weeks in the fall. I don't miss it at all. Plus I like the solid feel of the hard top.

I went from a 99 cpe to a Z. I didn't take the targa off but a few times. A convertible brings a little different feel than a targa. The Z seemed scary fast compared to the 99 although I've gotten used to it now. I love the Z.

I found that I very rarely went topless anyway so it was a no brainer for me.

I had a WS6 TransAm prior to the Z06 that I rode around in with the T-Tops off nearly every time I drove it. I don't think I've ever missed going topless since I bought the Z06. Its so many times more fun than the T/A was I'd much rather have the structural rigidity then the ability to remove the top

Every now and then I wish I could drop the top but there is so many other benefits to the Z...the hardtop is part of the package..its intertwined with the fact that the Z is racecar stiff..lighter..wider rubber..better handles..and more power...so its a tradeoff I`ll gladly accept..If I really wanna go topless I`ll just drive the 80..

I had a '98 coupe which I did take the top off quite frequently, sometimes in nice weather leaving it off for days at a time. When it came time to think about a new Vette, I seriously considered a convertible. However, my wife mentioned to me she thought the speed of a Z06 would be more important to me, not that a mildly modified '98 coupe was slow. I took one test ride in a Z and completely forgot about removing the roof. Occasionally, I think about going topless. Open the window and run through the gears and I forget all about it.

My last vette before my Z's was a 93 vert w/hardtop. I never took the hardtop off for the last 3 years I owned it. Also, it was prone to rust on top of the windshield where the top bolted down. No more moving roof parts in my fun car ever again. Fixed roof has it all.

I went from an 02 CP to a 04 Z06...and there is NO going back.
The 02 CP rode like a luxury car and the 04 Z06 rides like a truck on rails...and we love it. The first words out of my wife's mouth were "now this is more like us"
