Default car care

My first vette. I want to do it right with the car care products. Some you don't use...right? Armor-all, etc.
What do I use for the leather, dash, under the hood, paint, tires. I hear stories about some products will turn black plastic to gray or make it hazy...

A mod will likely move this to the car care section under the General interest area....
You should visit that area to get others opinions. there are a lot of professional and passionate detailers who hang out there.

paint... a good paint sealant ( after you have clay barred the surface).... Klasse AIO, Meguiars NXt, Mothers Reflections, Poorboys, Rejex, Zaino take your pick.... They all are slightly differently positioned in terms of gloss, reflection, depth of color, the "wet loook" durability. I prefer Rejex.

For leather surfaces Lexol Lether cleaner followed by the protectant
For vinyl, rubber Aerospace 303 cleaner followed by protectant
For glass Stoner's Invisible glass
For Tar removal Stoner's Tarminator or WD-40
For Tires / Wheels clean with a 3 parts water 1 part Simple Green solution, I like Eagle 1 tire dressing.

For under the hood, clean with the same Simple Green solution on a cold engine, let soak 5 minutes then flush with hose nozzle or pressure washer. Treat plastic and hoses with Aerospace 303 protectant.

I use Zaino on the paint and leather. Otherwise, I am in total agreement.

I use McGuire's NXT line for the most part, but do use Amorall Low Gloss for the dash, Eagle F1 for the wheels and Endurance for the tires. Stoners is a must for glass and Simple Green for under the hood and chassis

Great info. I have used a number of products over the years and there are a number of good products on the market. I prefer lexol for the leather, for the dash I use finish first lvr protectant it is lanolin based and non-oily. Meguiar's #7 show car glaze and #26 wax. Also used P21s carnuba wax. Recently tried product from Finish Kare #216 a high gloss sealant glaze and very pleased with the results. Gloss and wet look just right. Finally tried a polywipe spray detailer #425, one of the best. Just my opinion. Good luck.

I've used the Meguiar's stuff for a while but switched to Adam's Polishes after winning a detail kit at the A&A Party last year and haven't looked back. Stuff works great and is easy to use.

Well you've done it now ...You've unknowingly unleashed the "Detailing Gods"...

Everyone who responds to your question has a different opinion, myself included.

Last summer I tried some car care products from Adams Premium Products.... http://www.adamspolishes.com/ Their products are really amazing. They go on easy and come off just as easy. I like both the shine and the depth. Their protection appears to last as long as most others do.

Go to the web site above and check them out. I buy my products through West Coast Corvettes, a Corvette Forum supporting vendor..

For the leather, I use Eagle One leather conditioner. For the dash, doors, etc., I use a mild soap solution to clean the surface - I have not put any kind of protectant on mine. For the outside, I have been using Armor All paste wax and it does a great job. However, it is getting hard to find, and I have used Adams Polishes with very good results. For dressing the tires, I use V.R.T. from Adams Polishes.

I use Maguiar's Gold Class car wash especially, as well as all Maguiars products. You see the difference right away with the car wash.

I've heard good things about Adams as well.
