The instructor tried to tell me that in California, the Cops are cracking down on people with radar detectors.

I asked her what she meant, and she said that they were illegal. I disputed her and asked her to find the law in the vehicle code book. She could not find it, but insisted that they were against the law in California.

My research says that there is only two states in the Union that have banned radar detectors, and CA. is not one of them. Is my research full of poop, or is she?

IMO they probably just tell people that, because they make a living off of people who get caught for speeding.

Radar jammers are illegal, but logic would dictate that if radar detectors were illegal in CA, Costco wouldn't be selling them here in bulk.

I'm pretty sure radar detectors are only illegal in Virginia and District of Columbia. THey are definitely NOT illegal in California.

Are they still illegal in Connecticut?
I always thought it was funny that you could order knives, swords and ninja throwing stars through the mail in CT, but banning radar detectors were a matter of public safety.
