I still like the car, and would like to buy another, but I feel that unless GM gets their **** together, then they may lose another customer.

Hope the new car, regardless of what it is will work out better for you. I had some issues with my 98 but it seems they all worked out for the best. I would dump the Vette also if I had the nighmare you have had and not be able to work out the problems...

Hope your Impala ss is ok .... but I still wouldn't say
Finally, GM needs to get its act together. This is supposed to be the GM flagship. Instead it's built like a chinese junk floating in Hong Kong harbor
Your just looking to be flamed. You posted this here where most of us love these cars...Its to bad we couldn't help figure these issues out. We all know that the dealer isn't always the answer thats when I look here to get advise. I to am sorry you had problems, and wish you luck with you next car...

Sorry you had the gremlins of all Gremilns....

Over 52,000 on my 2002 and not a single issue (other than a dead battery in 2005 which I *GASP* replaced myself!!! ). Regular preventive maintenance and a lot of TLC (aka, drive it a lot and wash it a lot!). Good luck on your next car; no other flagship vehicles from any car company have problems at all so you can rest assured you'll buy a great one next time!

6. The suspension sucks. When is GM going to finally ditch the transverse leaf spring ? The car hops sideways in mid turn bumps at any speed. Please don't tell me its wheel alignment. My $16K Sentra doesn't do this neither does my 2004 Impala SS.

Over the years I've drove several types of sports cars from Porsche, Shelby, to all years of Corvettes most have that feeling when hitting bumps in turns do to the stiff springs for road racing. Tire noise is not uncommon. Corvette is not a family sport sedan and not going to drive like one. Hope you next car is more fitting to what you are looking for. Hate to hear anyone having that much problem with a car.

Too bad you got a bad experience with your childhood dream car. I would had ditched it too if I were you. It's good that it's on lease and easier to get rid of.

Goodluck on our next car.

I don't agree with this one bit. It's not common for sports cars to handle so horribly stock off the showroom floor. We've already settled that the problem is due to the stock runflats. And it's fully understandable why someone on a lease wouldn't want to invest >$1k in tires on a perfectly new vehicle that should already handle well for the price being paid.

I no longer have my problem, but I remember when I first bought my C5 I was miserable until I figured it out. So again, the guy has a point.

I love owners like you. Because I always buy used. Keep thoses mile low for my next vette.
Sounds like most of your problem are from not driving.

Mr Bekel; first I am sorry you had such problems with your Vett, it does sound as if your dealers techs were not as thurough as they should of been. However your post seems a bit dishonest to me, in your original post you compare the Vett to your Sentra and Impalla as if they were some type of measuring tool yet you failed to mention until many posts later that these cars were modified. I can build a 1972 Pinto to outrun a Porsche but to say that a pinto is faster than a Porsche would just be lying..now wouldnt it. I have probably misspelled a few words in this post as well as bad punctuation I know.

That is your opinion that the car handles horrible stock, however it is funny how Car & Driver, Road & Track, Motor Trend, Speed Channel shows, and Pro drivers from Test Drive Rate the Corvette C5 and C6 (which has the same set up as the C5) so high when it comes to how it handles off the show room floor. I'm sure getting rid of the runflats help even more.. But my point is the comments were a bit over board and it not uncommon to feel side movement in the car and I've driven a lot of sports cars over the years and felt it in others with road racing setup as in Z51 package. Glad you are now happy with your C5

Geez us! What h3ll has become of this forum... or more like the people here lately?!

IMHO, Beckel was not directly comparing the Sentra and Impala, but rather drawing a satire... more like, "My little sister can lift more weight than you." He has some very valid points to be frustrated about the car and GM.... most of us have been there. For the few fortunate ones who were blessed with a trouble free car or good service departments, you're the lucky ones. It's nice to have someone to help you out (if you do it yourself, then you )

The rest of the folks who learned by trial and error of the many bonehead techs and service people we had to choose from... we know beckel's pain. He was not asking anyone to run out and burn their car... nor was he telling anyone to boycott GM.... this was a simple post where someone vented a continous laundry list of issues he faced.... and rightiously so.

Most of the people bashing him need to re-read the original post and this time try and keep am open mind, while placing yourselves in the other guys shoes.

What happened to ranting without being flamed/punished here? with whomever said the few noobs, e-thugs and internet tough guys need to sit down. No one needs to be abused by a bunch of pR!cks that worship the car they drive because they think it gets makes them better than someone else....it doesn't. You just give the rest of us a bad name.

Good luck to you beckel....

Apparently, it's not just my opinion. Do a search and you'll see thousands upon thousands of the same response. As a matter of fact you can see it in this thread at least 2x.

Keep an open mind?! Consider someone else's point of view?! Admit that someone else might actually have a point?!

You might as well be asking these guys to cut off their b*lls.

What happened to ranting without being flamed/punished here?
Dunno, but that's why I spend almost no time on this forum anymore. Too many people who think owning a Corvette puts them above others, or that it is the be-all and end-all. It's a freakin' car folks. I'm no more impressed because someone owns a Corvette than if they own a Ferrari. Doesn't make you more right, or a better person.

I do have to laugh at all the blind loyalty I see in some of these responses. One person who said something about loving the car, warts and all...
