[Z06] Mod. Time: Headers + X-pipe
First plan is to install headers and X-pipe. My question to you guru's out there are these:1. Can I install these in the garage with only jack stands, or will I need more ground clearance?
2. What brand options are available, (with ease of installation a primary concern) Hopefully all "bolt-on"
3. Will the X-pipe connect directly to the mufflers?
4. Will I need a tune to complement the headers? If so, what is the average cost of one?
any other thoughts or problems I will encounter would be appreciated. going on a 2002 Z , completly stock.
Thanks for your knowledge and guidance in advance!

So many people with these mods, surely the answers are simple to you pro's. (maybe too simple??
) The only time I've been under the car has been to change oils. Questions 1 & 2 are very important to me. I don't want to strip of the manifolds and find that I don't have enough clearance under the car to manuver the headers into position...

you have many brand options....LG, Dynatech (that's what i have), kooks, and a few others.......apparently the dynatech supermaxx long tubes that i have are some of the easiest to install, and yes, it is all bolt-on
xpipe comes with the headers, and fits perfectly to the axleback system..
a tune is recommended, and you will see smoother and better gains....a tuner can charge about $500 or an hourly rate

I installed LG Pros, X-over, cats and Borla catback with my friend in his garage. He has a Backyard Buddy lift which made the job much easier. I have wrenched on cars all my life so the work was not difficult at all. I believe even someone with limited wrenching experience could handle this job with out too much trouble.
I definitely recommend a dyno tune after changing the exhaust.
I had mine done for $300.
If you decide to do it yourself, pick up a new pair of flange gaskets and header gaskets from GM. It's also a great time to change plugs and, if you want, change plugwires.
My LG Pros installed with little drama. Everything bolted up as advertised. I removed the coil packs during the header install because I felt it makes access a little easier and I wanted to clean everything up really nice.
