I am looking for some assistance regarding my glass top. I have a 1999 with 22K miles on it. The last time before today that the car was driven was about 8 or 9 months ago. Today I notice while driving that the glass top is making a squeeking noise. It sounds like it is coming from the top left corner of the windshield. When I took the top off the noise stopped. Does anyone have any ideas on why this is happening and what can I do to stop it? I appreciate your assistance. Thank you!
Had the same problem. If both tops rattle or squeek then adjust the screws on each top. However if the targa top (See through top) is the only problem then tighten the roof latch where the rattle is. I used a shim to pull down the latch. Let me know if you need more info. Good luck

There are a few reasons why you're hearing the noise. I'll offer some suggestions starting with the simplest:
- Get a can of Silicone spray and apply liberally to all rubber weatherstripping along the top of the windshield. Don't worry if you get a bit on the paint - it won't hurt it. Alternatively you can also use dielectric grease.
- I've had a problem with the roller bearing in the latch striker plate (attached to the windshield header) where it would tap/chatter. I liberally applied some white lithium grease to that roller bearing axle to solve that problem.
- If all else fails, you will likely need to readjust the latch/striker plates. You should refer to a service manual for details, but basically you could try moving the striker plates slightly downward (~1-2mm) which will result in a tighter fit when you latch the roof.

I have had my 99 for 6 years and it has squeeked on the driver's side since I got it (in 2000). I am on the second top and it does the same thing. I have lubed, adjusted, tightened, loosened, pushed, pulled, tugged, and pretty much tried EVERY remedy I have found. It still squeeks... good luck.
