OK, I admit that I listen to a lot of idiots yap on AM radio......so just shoot me now.
But ever since I got my 99 coupe I note the AM reception is REALLY lousy ! It is 10 times worse than my Talon or Mini in the same areas.
I have the embedded windshield antenna and the stock Bose system. I suspect the embedded antenna system is the problem.........but before I poke a hole in my vette for a regular power antenna I want to consult the masters on the forum for advice.
I read someplace that the best reception comes from a vertically mounted mast of 39" tall.
That said, I don't like the looks of a "permanent" mast especially when I listen to CDs more often than AM-FM. My oem mast got shortened.
Mobile antennas work best with a nice ground plane- ie steel body of car. Since we have just a peon of a frame and everything else is plastic, we're screwed. PS, aftermarket or OE headunit?
