I was in Toronto about 3-4 weeks ago and they had some horrible storms which lasted for about an hour. It rained and hailed for about an hour. The hail at time was about the size of a small marble. I was in the car, no shelter, side of the road, sh##ing bricks...After returning home, i checked it out the next day, and nothing. The sound of the hail hitting the car is something i will never forget
baschenb, I got caught on C470 in a hail storm back in July. The hail
was about marble sized. I was not worried about the body. However,
I was worried about the thin glass used to reduce weight in the Z. I
slowed to about 35 MPH and the glass survived.
Got caught yesterday going home by two seperate mini-hailstorms. :cry
Maybe the size of peas/small marbles and still mixed w/ rain, they didn't seem to be bouncing too high off the road (soft? hail) but they still made a hell-of-a noise hitting the glass and paint....
A really nasty hail storm with golf ball and larger hail driven by winds will go through or shatter windshields and will cause significant damage to body parts. Paint will crack much like a rock hitting your W.S. The serious stuff will go right on through some parts. My experience with a hail storm in 1989 was not good. :smash:
Sherylann cried her eyes out. :cry The hood was replaced. Actually there were 2 large dings in the hood, and when the hood liner was removed, it revealed that the damage had broken all the way through the hood. Everything is fine now.
I was scared to death that I would get hit by hail the day after I picked up my car at the museum. I was awoke at 5:15am in Bowling Green by lightning and thunder and the clouds let loose. It was just the kind of storm that sometimes has hail in it.
