my 98 has power seats and when I hit the breakes the seats slide a little , any one have same problem and have a fix ?? any help is appreciated....Thanks jeff
yes, my drivers side does it as well. There is a post somewhere on here look under "rocking seat" seat movement... seat play...etc.... you will find it. Someone even made a webpage of directions on how to fix it. It's not superhard but I think it looks like a few hour job to remove the seat and disassemble the tracks and make these spacers... I personally wonder if you could liquid steel some horshoe washers in the gap as the directions show to get the play out of the seats. Here is the link: http://robbs.js-x.com/ken/vette1/

I had the same problem. My dealer wanted 1k per seat to fix them. I did both in one hour.
Four bolts and one plug, and the seat is out.
There are two slides, driven by one motor, via flexible shafts. They are aligned equally, front and back. The trick is to offset them by the amount of slop in the seat, mine were about 3/16".
On the front corners of the seats, there are right angle adapters for the flexible shafts held on by 2 screws. Remove one. Now you can turn the shaft for the slide on that side by hand. With a carpenter's square, you can easily see the offset of the slides. It doesn't matter which one you offset or which direction. One will hold the seat forward and the other aft.
with both of the guys above! The first solution is gaurenteed to work but it takes forever to get the white ***** out of the rail. I abandoned this method and optioned for the second solution. I did it on both of my seats (i turned one of the flex shaft 2 full turns), and it turned out great! HOWEVER, my seats didnt rock that much (maybe 1/4") my buddy has a 2000 vert and his passenger seat rocked about 1/2". I turned the inboard flex shaft 2 full turns and although it took some of the slop out, it didnt remove it completely. Unfortunately, we didnt have time to take the seat back out to turn the shafts a few more turns.
The second method takes abou 10 minutes (including removing the seat and reinstalling it completely)

Removing the white ***** is not necessary. The other method works just fine and if you have the whole seat apart, removing the flex shaft is easier.

Im not sure i follow...if the rails were attached to the seat bottom, i thought the while ***** had to come out so that the bottom rail could be removed. I can see where you wouldnt need to remove the while ***** if the entire rail system were removed from the seat bottom, however, i couldnt get the rails off the bottom of the seat without removing the bottom leather cover and cushion...maybe i am confused on that entire method...which explains why i abandond it...
either way, just removing the small motor from the flex shaft and putting a few turns on one rail works great.
the driver's seat in our y2k rocks slightly. wish i had the cajones to try this. ???? bub
Just hold out for a few more days. my buddy is comingback over with his 2000 and ill fix it the rest of the way. When i do, ill take pics so you can do it yourself. The fix requires a couple of torx screw drivers but those are fairly common

I have a y2k with about 1/2 inch movement when braking hard. I sure would approciate the pics. I've got to fix this!
thanks
Yeah I would like some pictures too. Is there a website where there are directions and pictures of how to do it? Mine moves about an inch when braking slightly hard.
Basically the quick mod allows you to offset the two tracks from one another by twisting one of the flex shafts (which is connected to the threaded rod). There were some questions about binding tracks but general consensus was that its OK as long as you dont turn the flex shaft too many times. Heres the link... http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...=easy+seat+fix
Thanks to all who contributed to this thread. I follwed the directions of Corvettezman that was provided by stealthy4 as a link and within 1/2 hour I had a rock solid seat.
