I just bought the Valentine 1 remote unit and am looking for the best location to mount it. I've got mine right beside the radio right now and it just does not catch my eye like I need it to. I really don't want to cover the instrument cluster or be very obvious on top of the dash.
Any tips?

I have mine in front of my fuel gauge (right side of the cluster). It does not block the fuel gauge and looks factory yet catches my eye.
The V1 is on the right of the rear view mirror, up high. I will try and find some pics.

You need a detector ? I'd never thought.
I thought it would cover it up-I will try it there and see.
You can get a kit or DIY to put the display in your rear view mirror. I had this on a previous car and it was terrific. Here's one link and a pic, there are several suppliers for this.

Thanks for the link!! However that display won't work while I'm driving through Virginia and DC.
That's kinda why I need the remote one.

Nice mod to the avatar, EG.
Oh yeah - the remote - I've got it on the top of the cluster to the left, over against the lefthand windshield pillar. It sits at an angle but is easily seen (and reached, for muting). In effect it's directly above and to the left of the end of the turn signal lever.

Thanks for the reply! I see what you're talking about, actually sitting what is still the dash, but on the extreme left curve as it envelops the gauges. I'll definitely consider that location.
For now, I temporarily mounted the remote display in the ashtray, having pulled the tray itself out first. It is actually a fairly nice fit and disappears when I close the door, but there two things I already don't like about the location: my shifter (6 speed) blocks the display in different gears, and my eyes have to move too far (in my opinion) from the windshield to down-and-right to see the remote display.
EG - in your location, does the windshield wiper stalk block the display?
The ultimate would be the $50 V1 HUD kit for a C5...

I tried the location on the inner instrument panel shelf like you have, EG, but the control stalks and wheel got in the way of my seeing the display and reaching to mute it off (reaching through the wheel spokes at speed is uncool). So came up with the mount on the side; BTW it's virtually invisible from outside.

No, standard RJ11 wire goes into the cluster.
