I'm considering purchasing a 2001 C5 w/ the equipment group 2 package, transparent roof and performance axle with an original sticker price of $44,590. The car has 12,000 miles on it. The car is excellent condition.
What is a fair price to pay from a dealer? Also, is this a good year for C5's and are there any problems to be aware of?
Sounds a little high priced to me! Check around. If you get a chance look at some of Corvette Palaces cars on their website. Good for comparisons. Good luck! I'm sorry you want a price. Hmmmm?
Go to kbb.com or edmunds.com to get ballpark retail figures for your particular area of the country. In my area, KBB shows $30,035 for an 01 coupe / auto w /12k miles.
Happy hunting!

no matter where you end up buying a car - get a Carfax done before you sign. Many forum members have a Carfax subscription - if you post a VIN you might be able to get them to run a report for you, and if you're real nice, someone may also pull a warranty claim report on it for you.
Kelly blue book, Edmunds and many others can give you price guidance, as can eBay and our own for sale section.
oh, I see why everyones panties are bunched up over this... READ HIS POST!
he said the original sticker says $45k, not the dealership.
as for problems
here are the common ones:
Column Lock
Crankcase pulley (Harmonic Balancer) wobble
Hazard switch
Oil Pressure Sensor
Gas Gauge
Rocking Seat
Door Module relays going bad.

I just bought a 2001 with 17000 miles, it was the the dealership owner's car, it was GM certified with warranty, with new GY runflats for 29K. New sticker was 47K. It is a cherry. They delivered it to my house via flatbed 130 miles after putting on new tires etc. I think it was a good deal. warranties are important. It came with the carfax. So I guess the tires, delivery, inspection, new mobil oil, warranty were about 2-3K? I really doubt it will be a lemmon, if it was the dealer would have dumped it. It was probably detailed every month. So condition, low miles, and warranty made the deal. I guess from a private party I would have paid 26K. I live in Pennsylvania, and using internet car seach engines I was suprised at the number of low mileage vettes with in a 3 hours drive. In my search, I thought it was a buyers market. Many nice ones to choose from and tons and tons of cars with excuses. Good luck. Ter
I got my 02 in 2005 for $30K, you should be able to get the 01 for less than $30K now. I had package 1 with the Z51, auto, etc. I'd say reasonably no more than $28K.....not YOUR fault the last guy didn't drive it very much!!

What does the dealer want for it? I assume you are referring to the window sticker in 2001 correct?
I think the upper 20's would be a good price for that car. Good luck!
I bought my cherry '01 from a private party last fall for 26K. It had a clean carfax and only 14K on the odometer. It had been a garage queen but has since been "dethroned"..
