Default Almost pulled the trigger...

Went and test drove an C6 Z yesterday. They were offering a better price than anyone else on it. I even test drove it twice.
If it would have been M/S, I would have done it. It was velocity yellow. I've just never been a fan of yellow cars. This car looks very sharp in yellow, however yellow is just not me.
Driving that car however almost made me forget about what color it was. I came very close to doing it, but I couldn't see my self driving a yellow car.

Good thing you didn't take it for a third ride, you'd have been hooked on yellow

It certainly wasn't my preference but I ended up with a yellow Z and after driving it for two months I'm very partial to it now. According to the comments I get lots of others are too.

Yesterday I was looking at that party picture Andy posted to the forum and all I could seriously think was how boring that would appear without any yellow in the picture.

That's impressive that they let you test drive it w/o giving them a kidney or something

So, are you talking sticker or below on that deal, or is Cali still thousands above?

Wait a minute... He's talking about the Velocity Yellow, not the Millenium Yellow. Hmmm, not so sure now.

Bobby, let's not hijack his thread by posting pixz... Like this -

I know I can get one for 5k over sticker. Best I have been able to find in South Florida.

Bought a new 2007 Tahoe 2 weeks ago, dealer said he has 2 allocated Z06's selling at MSRP FIRM (= sticker price, no "market adjustment"). That's in San Antonio, TX. Why GM allows stealerships, sorry, dealerships to "market adjust" is a mystery.

As far as the test drive, I think it helped that I pulled up to the dealership in my '04 Z. They let me test drive it the secound time after they ran my credit report and realized I could afford it, and I wasn't just trying to joy ride.

As far as the yellow... don't get me wrong, it is flat out sharp! It is a striking looking vehicle. Unfortunatly yellow is just not me. I was trying to talk myself into thinking that maybee the color would grow on me, however that is a lot of coin to be unsure.

They were asking 8,000 over sticker, and everything else aroud here is 20 to 30 over. The car is new other than being used for test drives with 75 miles on it. The dealership is up in the hills so there is low overhead and not big exposure.

Was the dealership Family Chevrolet in Shingle Springs by any chance

I bought my 04 Z from Family Chevy and the experience was fantastic; great group of people to do business with

8K over sticker AND allowing for test drives is indicative of this dealership

Well? Tell us. was it WAY better than a C5Z?? I have to make a decision like yours on a black 06'Z at MSRP in a week but it means giving up my 04'Z and my 05'C6 coupe. Any thoughts??

[QUOTE=LarryW]Was the dealership Family Chevrolet in Shingle Springs by any chance [QUOTE]

Wow, yes it was! Other than the typical semi high-pressure sales pitch, they were pretty good people. I might just order a machine silver '07 from them.

Turbooo2u... to answer your question, I have had some water leak issues with my '04Z due to poor workmanship after a windshield replacement. The water leaks are fixed, but I have other issues because of it that I am still dealing with.

I am sick of this vehicle going back to the shop and being torn apart time after time with only 7k miles on it. The vehicle doesn't feel new anymore after all the crap I have been through with it. This is the only reason I am looking at a new one.

As far as the comparison... I was expecting night and day difference, and I didn't really feel that. Don't get me wrong..I felt a differnce; just not night and day like I thaought there would be.

The secound test drive I took, I drove some curvy back moutain roads, and that's where I felt the majority of the differnce. The ride is incredibly smoother, seems to be a longer torque band, steering feels great, and with traction control on there is no hesitation when you get on it.

All in all, if I hadn't had all the issues with mine, I would save the money and keep what I have. However I have the Z06 fever, and I have decided I wll not buy another used one after what I have been through.

Don't take my word though... go for a test drive and see for yourself!
