You should have told him that you would get noticed a lot more by LEO and he should carry a PBA card......You should have then pushed your luck and ask him for a PBA card.....
Damn! failure to show proof of Insurance out here is $865.00
If I don't pay the $7.50 within 30 days it becomes $73.50. Anything over $100 for not carrying your Ins. card seems a little insane ...I mean they can always look you up on their laptop or call in to their station for proof of Ins.
Thanks for the info. though...makes me want to be certain I'm not traveling out of state without my card!
WOW, can you say, "Thank you officer!" That was VERY cool of him to do that...
And BTW, don't even think of fighting the $7.50 charge in court. He was NICE to you and let you off already... don't come back and try to upset him by going to court for $7.50 (Even if they do add $30-40 for court costs) You got off EASY... (I know, that was someone else's suggestion and I don't think you were going to take it but just wanted to re-iterate)
I think that ruins it for others when they give you a break then you try to put the screws to the same guy that gave you a break later in court. You think he WON'T remember that the next time he "thinks" about giving a poor sap like me a break?
Only my humble opinion but when you've been given a nice break, try not to crap on the system that gave you that break...
We all have to take responsibility for our actions... Now I have to put my flame suit on because I wrote this... give me a sec...
Really? I think it's pretty lame to pull over a Corvette just to look at it when there were other cars going faster. Then to ask to pop the hood after that is pretty ballsy. Sounds like an a hole.
Every once and awhile I'll get a break, last year going to town to pick-up a tux for the daughters wedding, met a Co. Sheriffs Car, he pulled over to the side of the road to make his u-turn and turn on his lights, so I found a good spot to get off the road and waited for him, he comes ups and looks and my paper work, and says," If you can't go fast in a Corvette, what can you go fast in?" and let me go I was gone before he got back in his car

Really? That's the same thing I thought about you after reading your post. People like you never cease to amaze me.
If the truth be known,......today traffic cops have been reduced to little more than cashiers!! I actualy thought about becomming one years ago. The best disision I ever made was to,.............PASS!
I was pulled over once for making a left turn from the center lane. It was late at night and nobody on the road (but me and Leo).
One thing I've learned, never have an attitude! If you are nice, they'll be nice too. We talked cars for about 20 minutes, then he let me go with no ticket--just a warning. He was one cool Leo.
That is a great way to end the story. He gave you a break.
I've worked with the LEO's around here for many years and know they are just doing their jobs. I'm glad they do what they do and I've had my share of tickets (none in the Vette).
My wife and I did get stopped three weeks ago by a Virginia State Trooper. He got me on an old country road for too dark tinted windows, no front license plate and expired plates(I forgot to renew over the winter). He let me go with instructions to "fix it." He said, "he didn't feel right ticketing a firefighter!" Honestly, I have fixed the issues and am very happy he let me go. He is a nice guy.
As I see it: Cops are good folks trying to do a very hard job. To the cops reading this: Thank you for what you do!

Are you kidding? I would have handed the $7.50 to him if I could have He ended up being a cool LEO, I'm very lucky as has been mentioned already.

However I also agree with a post at the top regarding him passing up the other 3 cars going faster just because he probably wanted a look at the vette. In a way it's flattering but in a way it's a little cheesy.

Just curious .... Does "called you in" mean they ran your ID through the computer?
And
Do they really have to write a ticket if they call you in?
