Default Zr Vs Yr

All right, I have finally decided to go with the PS2's for my new shoes. But, before I was about to finalize the purchase, I noticed the rating was YR instead or ZR. I know that is a speed rating, but, I can't find a chart anywhere saying how fast I will be able to go. I am moving to Germany, so I will be planning on driving really fast on the Autobahn! I want to make sure I made the right choice in tire. I went with the PS2 because of all the great thing I read from you all. I wanted a tire that would be good for dry as well as wet roads. Do any of you think I would be making a mistake if I go with 315/30YR/18 and 275/40YR/17. I wanted to be a little wider in the back and front. Should I stay with 265's in the front? I heard I will have no problems with 315's in the back. I just want to make sure I am not making a mistake before dropping 1400 dollars!! Thanks in advance for any advice!!

R is for Radial

Speed Rating
The speed rating denotes the speed at which a tire is designed to be driven for extended periods of time. The ratings range from 99 miles per hour (mph) to 186 mph. These ratings are listed below.

Note: You may not find this information on all tires because it is not required by law.

Q 99 mph H 130 mph
R 106 mph V 149 mph
S 112 mph W 168 mph*
T 118 mph Y 186 mph*
U 124 mph

*For tires with a maximum speed capability over 149 mph, tire manufacturers sometimes use the letters ZR. For those with a maximum speed capability over 186 mph, tire manufacturers always use the letters ZR.

Info from safercar.gov website.

So I should be safe with the YR. The PS2's should be able to be driven as fast as the supercars even if the supercars have ZR on the right! Thanks for the info!

PS2's with a YR rating come as standard equipment on some cars that are capable of 200 mph. I have PS2's on my car. You will be very pleased.

I'm VERY happy with my PS2s. I'm VERY pleased too.
But, I haven't had them over 186 mph. Need some mod's.

Thanks for the replies, I just wanted to make sure I was getting the right tires. I will be doing some fast driving on the autobaun and I think the PS2's will be a good wet dry tire. What PSI do you run for every day driving? My tires should be arriving tomorrow! Thanks!

I think the final part of the reply was supposed to read:

*For tires with a maximum speed capability over 149 mph, tire manufacturers sometimes use the letters ZR. For those with a maximum speed capability over 186 mph, tire manufacturers always use the letters YR.
