Nearing the end of a Blackwing install yesterday, I thought that I would close my hood to see if the airbridge was down low enough not to hit.
I made sure that I had collected all of my tools, etc., before I closed the hood. After everything looked good, I proceeded to close it (not too hard but hard enough for the latches to catch). I noticed very quickly that there seemed to be something jamming on the driver's side, since that whole side of the hood (mostly in the front) was sticking up about 1/2 - 3/4 inch. After swearing some choice words, I re-opened the hood quickly. Turns out that I had not reconnected the (PCV?) hose that goes to the Blackwing, and it was getting in the way of the black hydraulic valve attached to the hood.
When I moved the hose out of the way and tried closing it again, everything seemed OK, although (in my mind?) the driver's side of the hood was sticking up just a tiny bit. I'm not even sure if it was like this before.
Is it possible for the hood to have gotten bent?
We all do stupid things. You don't have a lock on it. And you can't bend a composit hood.
I thought maybe I slightly bent a bracket or something. I'm glad I made this post though because I get a kick out of the sense of humor of other people..

Doubtful you could have damaged the hood with just a hose in the way. But, if you have to justify expending money on new mods, just keep thinking it is bent and get that MCM hood.
Yes. Knocked over a box in the garage, and a piece of metal was sticking out just far enough to run a nice scratch down the front fender of the Vette. Do I win?
probably not. But I always feel good reading that I'm not the only one who still manages to do something stupid even though I checked to ensure I wasnt about to

Ouch!
I almost had you beat. Last week I was washing the Vette and decided to back it up once I was done. As I was moving backward, I suddenly remembered that I had left the washbucket (with a nice metal handle) in the back of the car. I stopped and got out, and saw that I was within one inch of mangling my rear bumper with the pail.
Me:Honey, a bird pooped on the hood and it won't come out of the paint. I need to fix it before it gets worse and repaint the car. I might as well get the flame job I want don't while I'm at it.
Wife: You get out there and wash that $&%$ off the car. It'll come out with elbow grease. And then wash my van when you're done
Nothing gained... but then again, it was worth a shot.

I've got one of those, too (a wife I mean).. It's hard pulling a disappearing act into the garage..

I try this at my dad's house because he actually has a garage. Teh women folk still find us and try to lure us out with stuff we don't wanna do. My wife and Mom always tell our friends that call us that we are in "mens' town... where men go to do men things!" This includes bodily odors and sounds considered to be social errors, creating masterpieces of woodwork, opening the hoods of our cars and staring at the motor, and drinking lots of beer.

I'm not even gonna start telling you about the stupid things that I've done working on cars, and most of mine involve some self-inflicted bloodshed. How about the time when I jumped into the driver's seat of the car with an 8" flat blade screwdriver sticking out of my back pocket - blade end out ....you don't want to know......we'll say it was fugly and leave it at that.
