I'm bored of my auto. shift **** and have seen some aftermarket *****, but most look too tall...especially when a manual **** is used with the "adapter" kit.
Has anyone figured a way to lower the height of an aftermarket ****?
Someone around here posted a hurst horizontal bar that looked sweeet, but I'd want it lower!
Pictues of nonstock auto ***** would be appreciated
I haven't done it, but I don't why shortening the plunger and the two side pieces an equal amount wouldn't work. The adapter would still install in the same way. Plus **** selection is critical in that it is bored deep enuf so that it installs as far down on the shaft as practical.
Mine is stock height, but I used a 2 1/2 inch wooden **** that is drilled and tapped to about 2 1/4 inches. I don't use the collar (adds more height) and the botton of the **** is chamfered and counterbored so it fits over the boot top.
I posted this pic a couple of days ago. you can lower the **** by sanding down the plastic on the shift rod and lower the **** all the way to its base. It is not that hard. THis is a MOMO[IMG][/IMG]
Heres mine i didnt use the chrome peice on the bottom and no spacer inside the **** to make the button work i just kept cutting down the plastic around the shifter till i got it down where the button worked and set the set screws and used a zip tie on the shift boot around the bottom of the **** and put everything back together and it works great and sits low just the way it is suposed to.
