A friend and I took 3000 mile trip to Colorado, he has 2002 wheels he bought new and put on a 99 and has about 20000 miles on them. He was cleaning car up and found both rear wheels cracked. He never hot rods the car.
We are wondering if anyone has had GM take car of this kind of a deal?
Most of the people that have had this problem have had to replace all 4 wheels since the replacement wheels do not have spokes as thin as the original rims.

They are on the polished cast wheel. They were purchased as new 2002 GM polished wheels for his 99 (he paid around 1500 for genuine GM) so he would have no trouble.
I have the 2000 forged wheel. Has anyone heard of them cracking?
I replaced the polished right rear at 74000 miles on my 2002 ; because all of a sudden , it wouldn't hold air pressure. Two spokes were cracked through the bead seat area.
It really concerned me when it happened.

SSS,
My understanding is that all years ('00-'04) of the high polished thin spokes are forged. After the first several months of the 2000 model year, the painted thin spokes changed from (also being) forged to cast.
Keep your Wagon Wheels. It's part of Corvette's heritage.

Dress up your wagon wheels.
Wagon Wheel Decals!
Looks good on paint or chrome. Highest quality vinyl decals create the illusion of a split spoke. Looks good up close as the vinyl is so thin, 2 mil, they appear to be painted. They are matte black which further promotes the illusion.
A non-destructive mod which gives you the most "bang for your buck."
