jacking C5 to paint calipers????
Granted, it's a little(okay, moderately) scary to do this if it's your first time, but once you get used to the fact that the car is off the ground, you'll be fine.
One of the most IMPORTANT items I have is a set of wheel chocks. I used my hydraulic jack and jack stands to raise the car one side at a time. I went with the right side rear first, right side front second, left side rear third, and left side front last.
As I raised up the first 3 corners, I had the wheel chocks securely tucked in front and in back of the front left tire. The e-brake only grabs the rear tires, so the fronts will spin freely, and the car will roll if you don't have that wheel chocked!!!
If you've never removed the calipers and/or brackets, you should get familiar with this process FIRST. Check a DIY brake rotor/pad thread for the tools you will need.
It sounds more complicated than it is, but just take your time, remember SAFETY FIRST, and keep kids away from the car while you're working. A Vette off the ground seems to attract extra attention from the kids, if you know what I mean. And don't let any 'grown kids' come up and lean on the car, either!
Good luck!
