Default Continental Tire Kit

I now have my new GY GSD3 non runflats mounted and am enjoying the ride. I'm carrying a low profie scissors jack, a NAPA tire plug kit and purchased a Continetal Tire repair kit from the Tire Rack that includes a 12v air compressor and a bottle of latex puncture sealant attached to the compressor. Tire Rack claims that the sealant is harmless to the pressure sensors but I do not plan to use the sealant unless I have no forseeable option.

Does anyone have any experience with the latex sealant in this kit?

Regards,
Dave K.

I have no experience with it, but I'm thinking of getting the Conti Tire Kit as a last resort when all else fails.

Since you already have the kit, does it look like the sealant can be used with any standard air compressor, or is it adapted for the Conti compressor only.

I already have a small air compressor. I know they sell the sealant only. Not sure if the Conti compressor has a special fitting for the special Conti sealant.

No one on this forum yet has gone on record having used it, that I've seen. Yet, I have read that there are at LEAST 25 of us who have bought the kit.

I haven't used their kit.

I would be cautious regarding using the 'latex' product - if you have tire sensors.

Regardless of the 'spin' from Tire Rack - Manufacture, the possibility that there may be issues isn't worth the $100+ for a new sensor.

As you indicated, I would use it ONLY as a last resort.

Yeah, I bought one when I replaced my EMTs with non-runflats...in fact, the Conti kit was the deciding factor in making the switch. I haven't had the opportunity to use it yet (and hope I never do!). It seemed like cheap insurance, and I didn't have to buy a lug wrench, jack, and plug kit.

It appears like the latex sealant adapts to this compressor. The can is integral with the compressor. Can't be sure that another compressor will work. You need to call Tire Radck to be sure.

As far as i believe the latex sealent is ok for the tire sensors unlike fix a flat and other products that can cause problems.

I thought you were going to stick a Continental Kit on the back of your C-5.

That's what I was thinking. But then I was just to the "Back to the 50's" show in Minneapolis. Lots of continental kits on cars there. Surely someone can photochop one.
