Default Z51 and Selective ride?

Hello,

This may sound like a dumb question to some but...is the Z51 suspension an option for the cars that have selective ride control? or is it something they have by default?

Going to be looking at a 2000 with this and wanted to know before I got their.

Thanks in advance!

there were 3 suspensions: base, selective & z51. z51 does not have selective ride controls...it's essentially a more aggressive setup than the base suspension.

if the car you're looking at has it, that's a good thing.

Just to add to this, the suspension is mainly three things: springs, shocks, swaybars.

Base suspension has base everything
F45 has base springs and sway bars, but the shocks are adjustable
I believe Z51 has tighter springs, tighter shocks, and thicker sway bars

Correct me if im wrong here...

My ride is a 2000 vert with F45. There will be a setting dial with tour / sport / perf settings. Sport is a stiffer setting than tour, and perf is a even stiffer setting than sport. So as you dial it up the car handles differently. It effects the stiffness of the shocks only. Hope that helps. I like mine. Mark

Technically RPO Z51 is the Performance Handling Package which consists of the RPO FE3 Sport Suspension and a power steering cooler. The FE3 Sport Suspension part of the package includes stiffer springs and sway bays and heavier shocks. The Z51 package could be ordered as an extra cost option on the coupe and vert. Magnetic Selective Ride Control (RPO F55) replaced the Selective Real Time Damping Suspension (RPO F45) in model year 2003 and both the F55 and F45 were other extra cost optional suspensions that could be ordered on the C5 coupes and verts, depending on the model year. Neither the F55 or F45 could be had with the Z51 package.

HTH.
