Default Dim Display in Temperature Control Center

Any ideas why the temperature control center display would be dim and never get to full brightness? It starts dim and stays dim, maybe even a little dimmer than would be seen with the headlights on. I can't tell if it completely goes away and comes back a little, but it's definitely not working right.

The exterior temp seems OK and all AC functions work fine. The radio display is bright and dims with the headlights on as expected; only seems to be a problem displaying the temp control center.

I'm looking for some ideas...Thanks...Bill

That is a very common problem.

1. Send it out to a person here to get it fixed. Someone will chime in with the link, I do not have it.

2. Get a new one $$$$

Fairly common problem on C5's.

You have three options. You can have the unit replaced. If you are handy you can just resolder the resistors for the LED's that are causing the issue or you can ship you unit to a forum member that will repair the unit for you with great success. Here is a thread with all the details.

Pay particular attention to post 2 for the mail away and post 24 on for the details of the DIY repair.

if you can do some minor soldering it's a very simple repair, and save $50.00
